What this Wordle answer list includes
This page lists 910 past New York Times Wordle solutions in reverse chronological order, beginning with game #1,865 on July 28, 2026 and continuing through game #956 on January 31, 2024. Each row contains the puzzle number, ISO date, and five-letter answer. Open a year to scan the table, then use your browser's Find command when you need a particular word, date, or puzzle number.
The current day's solution is not shown. That is a deliberate spoiler boundary, not missing data: the page was checked on July 29, 2026, while the visible list ends on July 28. If you are solving today's puzzle, you can read the explanations and use the Wordle Solver without seeing the answer in the history table.
Wordless.blog is independent from The New York Times. The list records published Wordle answers for reference; the playable Wordle Archive on this site uses Wordless.blog's own deterministic puzzle sequence. Those two datasets should not be treated as interchangeable.
Past Wordle answers by date: 2024-2026
The newest completed puzzle appears first. The 2026 table is open by default; expand 2025 or 2024 for older results. Dates use YYYY-MM-DD so they remain unambiguous in every language and time zone.
Coverage: January 31, 2024 through July 28, 2026. The sequence contains one row per puzzle number, with no missing games in the published range.

Wordle answers vs valid guesses: they are not the same list
A word accepted by the keyboard is not automatically eligible to become a future solution. Keeping the two lists separate prevents a common strategy mistake: assuming every obscure accepted word is equally likely to be the answer.
| List | What it contains | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Past answer list | Words already published as daily solutions | Check history, dates, repeats, and prior puzzle numbers |
| Answer pool | Words that may be selected as future solutions | Estimate likely targets without treating the set as permanent |
| Valid guess list | A much larger dictionary of accepted entries | Test letters or placements when the word follows the game's rules |
| Wordless archive | This site's independent date-based puzzle sequence | Replay Wordless.blog puzzles rather than official NYT history |
How to use a past Wordle answer list without ruining the game
Start with the reason you opened the list. If you want to verify yesterday's result, stay in the first few rows. If you remember a word but not its date, search the page for the five-letter word. If you know the puzzle number, search for the number with a leading #. This is faster and safer than scrolling through hundreds of entries.
For strategy work, treat the history as evidence about editorial tendencies, not as a guaranteed exclusion database. Past answers reveal the kinds of ordinary words, repeated letters, and less common consonants that have appeared. They do not prove what tomorrow's editor will select. The New York Times has adjusted its answer handling over time, and a published answer can now repeat.
When you are actively solving, use history only after you have narrowed the board. A solver can apply green, yellow, and gray constraints to produce candidates; the answer list can then tell you whether a candidate appeared before. That order keeps clue logic in control instead of turning every solve into a memory test.
The list also helps when a shared result has only a puzzle number. Match the number to the date and answer, then open the official Wordle page for the current game or the independent Wordless Archive for a separate playable history. Never assume a Wordless archive date reproduces the official NYT answer shown here.
- Search by answer when you remember the word but not the day.
- Search by #game number when checking a shared result.
- Use the solver for live clue filtering; use this page for historical verification.
- Keep today's row hidden until the daily puzzle is complete.
Can Wordle answers repeat? Yes, so old-answer elimination is unreliable
Wordle answers can repeat. The older belief that every solution would appear only once was useful while the original fixed list moved forward without reuse, but it is no longer a dependable rule. Recent published history includes repeated answers, which means eliminating a strong candidate solely because it appeared years ago can cost a solve.
A repeated word does not mean the entire list runs on a predictable cycle. Editorial selection, vocabulary changes, calendar choices, and the practical need for familiar five-letter words all affect what appears. Past frequency is descriptive: it tells you what happened. It is not a probability guarantee for a future day.
Repeated letters inside one answer are a separate issue. Words such as those with two vowels or doubled consonants can be solutions even when the board initially shows only one confirmed instance. A yellow or green letter does not prove there is only one copy. If the remaining pattern supports a duplicate, test it deliberately rather than rejecting it because a first guess used the letter once.
The safest approach is to rank candidates by clue fit, ordinary vocabulary, and information value. Use previous answers as a light tie-breaker, not a hard ban. The Wordle Strategy guide explains how to handle repeated letters and choose a second guess without wasting confirmed information.
Wordle answer list, Wordle Archive, and Wordle Solver: which one do you need?
Use this answer list when your task is reference: checking a past official solution, mapping a puzzle number to a date, or studying which kinds of words have appeared. It is intentionally static, text-first, and easy to scan. It does not simulate the original board state or restore your official game statistics.
Use the Wordle Archive when you want to play a dated puzzle on Wordless.blog. That archive supports several word lengths and follows this site's own deterministic sequence beginning in 2026. It is useful for practice and shared challenges, but it is not an official NYT answer replay. The page labels that distinction so an archive result is not misreported as an official historical Wordle.
Use the Wordle Solver when you have active clues from any five-letter game. Enter greens in fixed positions, yellows as present-but-misplaced letters, and grays as exclusions while accounting for duplicates. The solver's job is candidate filtering; this answer list's job is historical lookup. Combining them is useful, but merging their data into one undifferentiated word list would reduce accuracy.
For uninterrupted practice, Wordle Infinite generates another puzzle without a date lookup. For better openers and clue handling, read Wordle Strategy. Choosing the page by task keeps the answer history from becoming an accidental spoiler and prevents official Wordle data from being confused with independent Wordless games.
- Historical lookup: use this Wordle answer list.
- Dated independent gameplay: use Wordle Archive.
- Green/yellow/gray candidate filtering: use Wordle Solver.
- Back-to-back practice: use Wordle Infinite.
Wordle answer list FAQ
Does this Wordle answer list show today's answer?
No. The current puzzle is deliberately excluded. On July 29, 2026, the list ends with game #1,865 from July 28, so the table can be used without spoiling today's Wordle.
How many past Wordle answers are listed?
The page contains 910 consecutive answers, covering game #956 through #1,865 and dates from January 31, 2024 through July 28, 2026.
Can the same Wordle answer be used more than once?
Yes. Published solutions can repeat, so a word should not be eliminated only because it appeared in an earlier year. Current clue fit matters more than old-answer status.
Are all valid Wordle guesses possible answers?
No. The accepted-guess dictionary is much larger than the answer pool. An obscure word may be accepted as a guess without being a likely daily solution.
Is this the official NYT Wordle Archive?
No. This is an independent reference page on Wordless.blog. It cites the official Wordle product and reputable published histories, while the playable Wordless Archive uses its own puzzle sequence.
How do I find a Wordle answer by date or puzzle number?
Open the relevant year and use your browser's Find command for a YYYY-MM-DD date, five-letter word, or #puzzle number. The table is sorted newest first.
